My dear Sir,

On the 13th instant a communication was sent to the Secretary of this Colony, by Hon. M. Keswick, Hawaiian Consul General, referring to an interview between himself and Dr Eitel, the Private Secretary of His Excellency the Governor of this Colony, on the occasion of the landing of Her Majesty at this Post.

This communication was (privately) handed to me, and I requested that no answer should be sent to it, until I could consult with His Majesty on the subject.

After consulting with His Majesty on the matter involved between himself and suite, I was commanded by him to request the Colonial Secretary to make no answer to the communication, and to permit the correspondence to terminate at its present stage. This command I have complied with.

His Majesty also commanded me to suggest to you the undesirability of continuing correspondence with ... 39. Buckley Johnson Esq., Acting Hawaiian Consul General.
